- Here Are Your Instructions:
You have the combined version of MyAds which includes the custom ad
module and the eBay Auction Ads module. Both are powerful options.
Lets look at each one seperately.
Custom Ads:
Click on Custom Ads above to see the current ads you have
in your database. On that page you
will find a link to Create New Ads.
The Create New Ad page lets you add any product or service you wish to sell. You can sell
products for virtually any affiliate network, CPA company or Network Marketing company.
Steps To Build A New Ad:
- Enter a title for your add - 40 characters max. The limitation on characters
is to prevent the ad from looking bad.
- Enter a a compelling description of the product or service and use phrases like,
'Click Here' or 'Click Now'. You can use a maximum of 190 characters, including blank spaces.
- The Title and Description fields will only allow 40 and 190 characters respectively,
and they count down space remaining as you enter data.
- Enter YOUR affiliate URL for the product or service featured in the ad.
It would be wise to ad tracking codes if the affiliate URL allows. Example being ClickBank's
use of ?tid=TRACKCODE, which allows you to track marketing campaigns to determine which is producing the
best results. You would use this track code for clickbank --> ?tid=WAG-<#>.
Simply replace this <#> with the Ad ID number issued by your software.
Each ad you create has a unique Ad ID# . . . the number to the far left of the Ad on the Custom Ads page.
- Enter the Image URL to the product or service featured in the ad. This can be
done simply by visiting the sellers website and capturing the image URL to use
in your ad. (See Video Tutorial On Image Capture)
- Enter the tracking image if required by the affiliate network.
Some networks, like Commission Junction, require that you use a tracking
image with your link to their site. This field should hold the tracking
image URL if required. ONLY enter the image URL. Do NOT enter any
HTML code like <img src= ....
- Enter the Network this ad belongs to. This is only used to assist you
in sorting your ads by Network. Be consistent with the naming of your networks.
Example, we use 'CB' for Click Bank and we use 'CJ' for Commission Junction.
- After you have entered all of the ad data, click the Build New Ad button. You
will be back on the Listing page with all of your ads and you will see the new ad
you just created. On this page are 3 ICONS to the right of each ad listing.
<== Generate Ad Code for an Ad
<== Duplicate an Ad
<== Edit an Ad
<== Delete an Ad
- Edit and Delete are self-explanatory. Duplicate Ad Code allows you to make an exact copy
of an ad for use in the Campaign system(see Below). An ad can only be used by one campaign. If you have the
need to display the same ad in mutiple campaigns, you will need to duplicate that ad for each campaign.
Generate Ad Code is where you get to pick the layout
and colors of your ad. This is also where you will get the javascript or PHP code
to use on your website. The PHP code is the best, fastest and most robust option. Use
the javascript as a last resort.
- Copy Paste the provided PHP or javascript to your website and test the display colors
and fit for the location you want to display ads. Try to match the colors on your site
so the ad blocks look like they belong.
- The provided PHP and javascript code have some useful tags that will
allow you to customize the 'look - and - feel' of your ads. These tags are not configurable
in the Generate Ad Code editor, you must edit these values when you place the code on your site.
The Javascript tags are:
my_auctionads_ad_width = "170";
my_auctionads_ad_height = "265";
my_auctionads_ad_TextAlign = "center";
my_auctionads_ad_HeadAlign = "center";
my_auctionads_ad_PGbg = "FFFFFF";
The tags my_auctionads_ad_width and my_auctionads_ad_height will allow you to control the exact height and width of your ads.
Caution: if you set the size too small for the text and headline you have entered, it will cut
your ad off making it look bad!
The tag my_auctionads_ad_TextAlign allows you to control the alignment of the text description
in the ad. Your choices are center (the default), left or right.
The tag my_auctionads_ad_HeadAlign allows you to control the alignment of the text header/title
in the ad. Your choices are center (the default), left or right.
The tag my_auctionads_ad_PGbg allows you to specify the background of your page so the
ad blends perfectly with your site. Do NOT enter any pound signs (#).
The PHP tags are:
http://.. width=170&height=265&TextAlign=center&HeadAlign=center&Pbg=FFFFFF
The tags width=170 & height=265 will allow you to control the exact height and width of your ads.
Caution: if you set the size too small for the text and headline you have entered, it will cut
your ad off making it look bad!
The tag TextAlign=center allows you to control the alignment of the text description
in the ad. Your choices are center (the default), left or right.
The tag HeadAlign=center allows you to control the alignment of the text header/title
in the ad. Your choices are center (the default), left or right.
The tag Pbg=FFFFFF allows you to specify the background of your page so the
ad blends perfectly with your site. Do NOT enter any pound signs (#).
- Also, you can enter sales on a monthly basis from each of your ads.
This will allow you to quickly see which of your ads is converting the best. You
will see a link to Add Sales in the Conv. field to the right
of each ad display.
Creating And Managing Ad Campaigns
The Ad Campaign
function allows you to specify a specific set of ads to rotate, instead
of rotating all ads in your network. This feature is particularly useful if you have many websites with different
themes. You simply create a campaign for each site and then select the ads to display that
match the niche for the site.
Please know that each ad in your network can only be associate with one Campaign.

You can have the same ad in the network as many times as you need.
On the Custom Ads page you will see a Duplicate Icon
for creating a copy of an existing ad.
Steps to Build A Campaign:
- Create a Campaign by giving it a unique name.
- Click the Edit Icon to select the ads you want to associate with the Campaign.
- Click on the Generate Ad Code Icon to produce the PHP and Javascript code to to rotate
the selected ads on your site.
- Paste the provided code on your site.
Display Banner Ads
You can display static and rotating banners with the Widget Ad Generator software.
To display a static, single banner, click on Custom Ads above and
then on Create Ads.
Do NOT enter a title or description, you MUST leave those Blank!
Just enter the affiliate URL, banner image URL, Tracking Image URL if required,
and the network. Once those items are filled out, submit the Build New Ad button.
Then, on the Custom Ads page click on the Generate Ad Code icon to build the
code needed for the static banner. The software will automatically size the ad
based on the deminsions of the banner image.
To display rotaing banners of the EXACT same size (Width and Height),
create a unique Camapign with a title like, "Camera's 125 X 125". The
125 X 125 in the title designates the banners to be 125px wide and 125px in height.
Then, after you have created the Campaign click on Create Ads
to enter the banners for this campaign. As stated above, Do NOT enter a title
or description, you MUST leave those Blank! Click the drop down menu for "Include in a Campaign"
and select the Camapign you created. Click the Build New Ad button to add a banner to the Camapign.
Repeat the process to add as many banners as you wish to this camapign. Then on the
Camapign page click on the Generate Ad Code Icon to produce the PHP and Javascript code to to rotate
the selected banner ads on your site.
CAUTION: Do not enter banner ads of different size into a single campaign.
This will typically result in a poor display on your website!
eBay Auction Ad Blocks:
- Create an eBay Campaign.
You can track views and clicks for each campaign. Make sure you enter your PID value from
Commission Junction for the eBay Affiliate Program. If you do not enter a PID value, or enter a wrong PID value,
you will NOT earn commissions from eBay. If you are not yet an eBay Affiliate, Join Now!
Campaigns may seem confusing, but they are merely a way to order or categorize your ads. On
many of our site we display one ad block per page, so we create a Campaign for each page,
or just one campaign for the whole site.
- Once the New Campaign is created you see the same 3 INCONS again:
<== Generate Ad Code for an Ad
<== Edit an Ad
<== Delete an Ad
- Click on the Generate Code ICON to build your Auction Ad Block. You simply select the country you
want your ad targeted to, the Keyword or Category ID for your ad, the Ad Format (display option)
and then select the design colors. The Auction Ad Block code generator will then
show you a sample display and provide you with the javascript or PHP code to use on your site.
The PHP code is the best, fastest and most robust option. Use
the javascript as a last resort.
- Helpful tips to display the exact products you wish to sell.
- Enter keywords in parentheses separated by commas (no space after the commas) to display
products from either keyword.
Ex. (purse,handbag)
This option does NOT track the individual keywords for views and clicks. This option
considers this -> (purse,handbag) to be a keyword itself.
- Enter the letter sequence (word) followed by an asterisk. Ex. book*
Returns items whose titles contain words starting with book, such as books, bookshelf, and bookmark.
- Display random items from a keyword list by seperating the keywords
with a pipe character ( | ). Ex. mp3|ipod|music|cd|electronics|
To make sure the random function has access to all keywords in your list, make sure
you end the list with a pipe -> | <-
This option DOES track the individual keywords from views and clicks.
This is a very powerful option because you can see which keywords produce
the higher click rates and then switch your keyword list to include only
the highest producers.
Question: Would you find value in letting the software automatically determine the
keywords that produce clicks and display only those items? If yes, email us!
- Insert the ad block code into your website where you want the ads to display.
Here is an Example page with some Auction Ad Block Displays and some additional
use ideas, click here.
- You earn money via Commission Junction (C J) as an eBay affiliate.
Make sure to enter your Commission Junction PID number into your account
Settings
and into each Campaign you create. C J requires a unique PID number for each domain you
refer traffic from.
